ARV1 Antibody (4G12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects ARV1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). ARV1 (4G12) antibody is available as a non-conjugated format. ARV1, also known as hARV1, is a 271 amino acid multi-pass membrane protein that belongs to the ARV1 family and is crucial for sphingolipid metabolism. ARV1 features an N-terminal ARV1 homology domain (AHD) that includes a zinc-binding motif and a transmembrane domain, along with five additional central and C-terminal transmembrane domains. ARV1 is encoded by a gene located on human chromosome 1q42.2 and is highly conserved across various species, including chimpanzees, dogs, cows, mice, rats, chickens, zebrafish, and Caenorhabditis elegans, sharing 44% amino acid identity with its yeast homolog. ARV1′s role in ceramide transport between the endoplasmic reticulum and the Golgi apparatus is particularly significant, as ARV1 may help maintain lipid homeostasis and prevent metabolic defects associated with lipid dysregulation. By facilitating the movement of ceramide, ARV1 plays a vital role in cellular lipid metabolism, making ARV1 an important target for research in lipid-related diseases and cellular signaling pathways.
