ARALAR Antibody (B-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects ARALAR protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-ARALAR antibody (B-2) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. ARALAR protein, encoded by the SLC25A12 gene, plays a crucial role in calcium signaling within mitochondria, which is essential for cellular responses to a variety of extracellular stimuli. Specifically, ARALAR functions as a neuronal calcium-binding mitochondrial aspartate-glutamate carrier, facilitating the malate-aspartate NADH shuttle. ARALAR′s calcium-binding domains are oriented towards the extramitochondrial space, allowing for the effective transmission of small calcium signals to mitochondria, which is vital for the synthesis of brain aspartate and N-acetylaspartate, both of which are important for myelin formation. Additionally, ARALAR is implicated in the modulation of mitochondrial NADH levels, which is critical for energy metabolism and cellular signaling. ARALAR expression in brain and skeletal muscle highlights its importance in neurological function and muscle physiology, while ARALAR association with susceptibility to schizophrenia underscores its potential relevance in neuropsychiatric disorders.
