AQP7 Antibody (D-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects AQP7 of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). AQP7 (D-12) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. AQP7, also known as aquaporin 7, plays a crucial role in the transport of water, glycerol, and urea across cell membranes, which is particularly important for maintaining osmotic balance and facilitating metabolic processes in adipose tissue. AQP7 is predominantly expressed in adipocytes, where AQP7 is involved in glycerol transport, linking lipid metabolism to energy homeostasis. AQP7′s ability to transport glycerol is especially significant in the context of energy metabolism, as this function allows for the mobilization of fat stores during periods of fasting or increased energy demand. Understanding AQP7′s function and interactions with other proteins can provide insights into metabolic disorders and potential therapeutic targets for obesity and diabetes.

For anyone who has used this ab in blotting against AQP-7 in brown adipose tissue (mouse): did you detect specific bands at 75-80 kDa or at any other unpredicted MW?

Asked by: mina
Thank you for your question. We do not have any data for 75-80 kDa. To discuss your blot please contact technical service by email at scbt@scbt.com or call (800)-457-3801.

Could this antibody be tried with Flow Cytometery for bovine aquaporin?

Asked by: KaleemSarwar
Thank you for your question. This antibody does not have any data or product citations in bovine samples. This monoclonal antibody is raised against amino acids 169-269 mapping at the C-terminus of AQP7 of rat origin. This antigenic sequence only shares approximately 62% sequence identity with AQP7 in bovine (accession number NP_001069846). We do not know the exact epitope recognized by this monoclonal antibody. But with only 62% sequence identity between the antigen and the bovine protein, we would not expect this antibody to cross-react with bovine. That would have to be determined experimentally. We are aware of one product citation using this antibody for flow cytometry in mouse samples. Please refer to PMID: 31990671 for details.

Where is the epitope of the antibody? Is the staining extracellular, cytosolic or plasmatic membrane? Can you pass me references please?

Asked by: lspoblet
Thank you for your question. This mouse monoclonal antibody is raised against amino acids 169-269 mapping at the C-terminus of AQP7 of rat origin. The exact epitope recognized by this clone has not been determined, and since this antigen includes both extracellular and cytoplasmic domains it could recognize either of these subcellular locations. We are not aware of any product citations yet for this newer antibody.
