AQP0 Antibody (B-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects AQP0 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). AQP0 (B-11) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. AQP0 protein, also known as aquaporin 0, is the most abundant protein in the plasma membrane of lens fiber cells, where AQP0 plays a critical role not only as a water channel but also in maintaining fiber-fiber adhesion, which is essential for the structural integrity and organization of the lens. The unique structure of AQP0 includes an additional pore constriction that is not found in other aquaporins, allowing for precise regulation of water transport and potentially influencing the pore gating. Furthermore, the C-terminal domain of AQP0 is subject to extensive post-translational modifications, including truncations that occur during lens aging, which are mediated by m-calpain and other proteases. These modifications are significant as they may contribute to the development of cataracts, highlighting the importance of AQP0 in both lens physiology and pathology.
