SEE ALSO...

apoE Antibody (A1.4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that specifically recognizes the apolipoprotein E (apoE) protein, targeting amino acids 126-191 of the human form. Apolipoprotein E is a key protein involved in lipid metabolism, mediating the binding, internalization, and degradation of lipoprotein particles. apoE acts as a ligand for the LDL receptor and the hepatic apoE receptor, playing a vital role in cholesterol transport and homeostasis. This function is critical, as dysregulation of apoE is implicated in a variety of diseases, including cardiovascular conditions like atherosclerosis. apoE exists in several isoforms: E2, E3, and E4, which differ slightly in structure but significantly in function, with E4 notably associated with increased risk for neurodegenerative diseases. Produced in most organs and present in all plasma lipoprotein fractions, apoE contributes to a wide array of physiological processes, including lipid transport, angiogenesis, and cell proliferation. Anti-apoE antibody (A1.4) is recommended for use in applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), making a versatile tool for researchers studying apoE-related pathways.

I have run out of my usual goat anti-mouse secondary antibody. What do you recommend I use for detection in my WB?

Asked by: cjMara
We recommend using one our exclusive Mouse IgG Binding Proteins as a secondary detection reagent. A complete list of available binding proteins is available on our website here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/browse/support-products-mouse-igg-binding-proteins/_/N-ecrety

Can I use apoE Antibody (A1.4): sc-13521 for detection in mouse samples?

Asked by: cjMara
We have not yet validated this antibody for use in mouse samples, it is only currently validated for use in human. We would recommend one of our alternative clones, sc-390925: apoE (F-9) which is recommended for use in mouse.
