    SEE ALSO...

APIP Antibody (D-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects APIP protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-APIP antibody (D-8) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. APIP, or Apaf-1-interacting protein, also known as APIP2, is a crucial member of the aldolase class II family, characterized by a highly conserved C-terminal region from Caenorhabditis elegans to humans. APIP is ubiquitously expressed, with particularly high levels found in the heart, kidney, and skeletal muscle, highlighting its importance in these vital tissues. Notably, APIP undergoes alternative splicing, resulting in two isoforms; isoform 1 is the full-length 242 amino acid protein, while isoform 2 lacks the first 38 residues and features a distinct sequence for amino acids 39-53. APIP prevents muscle ischemic damage by suppressing hypoxia-induced cell death through activation of Akt and ERK 1/2 signaling pathways, which inhibit caspase-9 activation through phosphorylation, and by competing with caspase-9 for binding to the caspase recruitment domain of Apaf-1. Through these mechanisms, APIP effectively regulates cell survival, making APIP a critical protein in cellular stress responses.
