AP-2α/β Antibody (A6/2/2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects AP-2α/β in mouse, rat, and human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and flow cytometry (FCM). AP-2α/β (A6/2/2) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and multiple conjugated forms, such as agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and various Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The AP-2 transcription factor family, which includes AP-2α, AP-2β, and AP-2γ, is crucial for gene regulation as these proteins bind to the DNA consensus sequence CCCCAGGC, initiating transcription of specific genes. Notably, AP-2α is involved in the regulation of ectodermal-derived tissues and has been linked to developmental disorders when mutations occur in its gene, leading to conditions such as microphthalmia and corneal clouding. Additionally, AP-2β, a splice variant of AP-2α, serves to inhibit AP-2 activity, thereby playing a regulatory role in the transcriptional activity of the complex. AP-2 proteins also form part of the OB2-1 transcription factor complex, which is known to upregulate the expression of the proto-oncogene c-ErbB-2, a gene that is overexpressed in a significant percentage of breast cancers. Understanding the function and interactions of AP-2α and AP-2β is essential for elucidating their roles in both normal development and disease processes, making anti-AP-2α/β antibody (A6/2/2) a valuable tool for researchers studying these critical transcription factors.

How can AP-2α/β (A6/2/2): sc-53163 mouse monoclonal antibody be used for double or triple staining, if the other primary antibodies are also raised in mouse?

Asked by: cjMara
In this case, we recommend using a directly conjugated mouse monoclonal primary antibody. This antibody is available conjugated to phycoerythrin (sc-53163 PE) or fluoroscein (sc-53163 FITC).
