AP-2β Antibody (C-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects AP-2 beta protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). AP-2β (C-6) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. AP-2 beta protein functions as a key member of the AP-2 transcription factor family, which includes AP-2α and AP-2γ, and binds to the DNA consensus sequence CCCCAGGC to initiate transcription of specific genes. AP-2β, a splice variant of AP-2α, regulates gene expression related to cell growth and differentiation, particularly in breast cancer, where AP-2β inhibits AP-2 activity and modulates the expression of proto-oncogene c-ErbB-2, which is overexpressed in 25-30% of breast cancers. AP-2β′s interaction with other transcription factors, such as the OB2-1 complex, highlights AP-2β′s significance in cellular processes and potential as a therapeutic target. AP-2β′s role in normal cellular functions, oncogenesis, and developmental biology makes AP-2β an important target for research and clinical applications.
