AP-2α Antibody (D-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects AP-2α of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). AP-2α (D-12) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. AP-2α belongs to the AP-2 transcription factor family, which also includes AP-2β and AP-2γ, and binds to the DNA consensus sequence CCCCAGGC to initiate transcription of specific genes. AP-2α regulates estrogen receptor expression, which is crucial for normal cellular responses to estrogen and has implications in breast cancer development. AP-2α regulates the proto-oncogene c-ErbB-2, which is overexpressed in 25-30% of breast cancers, highlighting AP-2α′s importance in oncogenesis. AP-2α plays an essential role in ectodermal-derived tissue development, and AP-2α gene mutations have been linked to severe developmental defects such as microphthalmia and corneal clouding. AP-2α′s interaction with other transcription factors, such as AP-4, further emphasizes AP-2α′s role in gene regulation and cellular function.
