ANO1 Antibody (C-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects ANO1 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). ANO1 (C-5) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. ANO1, also known as anoctamin 1, DOG1, ORAOV2, TAOS2, or TMEM16A, is a 986 amino acid multi-pass membrane protein that plays a crucial role as a calcium-activated chloride channel, essential for normal tracheal development and various physiological processes. ANO1 localization to both cell membrane and cytoplasm facilitates chloride ion transport across membranes, vital for maintaining cellular homeostasis and regulating fluid secretion in epithelial tissues. ANO1 expression is highest in liver, gastrointestinal muscle, and skeletal muscle, and has been implicated in several cancers, including breast, pancreatic, gastric, and uterine cancers, as well as neck, ovarian, and parathyroid tumors, indicating potential role in carcinogenesis. Human ANO1 shares 90% sequence identity with mouse counterpart, highlighting conserved function across species. Three isoforms of ANO1 exist due to alternative splicing events, contributing to diverse functional roles in different cellular contexts.
