ANKRD11 Antibody (2022C8a) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects ANKRD11 in mouse, rat, and human samples through western blotting (WB) and immunoprecipitation (IP) applications. ANKRD11, also known as Ankyrin repeat domain-containing protein 11, is a 2,664 amino acid nuclear protein encoded by the human gene ANKRD11, which plays a crucial role in gene regulation. ANKRD11 is part of a unique family of ankyrin repeat-containing cofactors that interact with p160 nuclear receptor coactivators, enhancing the transcription of target genes when bound to liganded nuclear receptors. Notably, ANKRD11 contains four ankyrin repeats and features two intrinsic repression domains, RD1 and RD2, which are located at residues 318-611 and 2369-2663, respectively. These domains suggest that ANKRD11 primarily functions as a transcriptional repressor, capable of modulating both repression and activation signals. Additionally, ANKRD11 possesses an activation domain, which is confined to a 70-amino acid region at residues 2076-2145, allowing ANKRD11 to stimulate transcription in vitro. The balance between repressive and activating functions is essential for maintaining proper gene expression, making ANKRD11 a significant player in cellular processes and a valuable target for research in gene regulation and related disorders.
