Aminopeptidase P1 Antibody (B-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects Aminopeptidase P1 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Aminopeptidase P1 is a crucial enzyme that plays a significant role in regulating bioactive peptides, particularly in bradykinin degradation, a peptide involved in vasodilation and inflammation. This enzyme is unique in proline-specific activity, cleaving N-terminal amino acids where the second residue is proline, which is essential for maintaining various peptides′ biological activity. Aminopeptidase P1 exists in two forms: a membrane-bound variant that is glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored and a cytosolic form, with the membrane-bound version predominantly expressed in the pancreas and other tissues. Aminopeptidase P1 localization suggests involvement in local peptide metabolism and signaling pathways, potentially influencing physiological processes such as blood pressure regulation and immune responses. Furthermore, Aminopeptidase P1′s role as a receptor for the breast-homing peptide highlights potential as a therapeutic target in breast cancer treatment and prevention, making this protein important in both health and disease.
