Alphavirus Antibody (3582) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Alphavirus in Alphavirus species by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Alphavirus antibody (3582) is available as a non-conjugated isotype antibody. Alphavirus, a member of the Togaviridae family, is notable for its positive-sense single-stranded RNA genome and is enveloped, typically exhibiting a spherical shape with a diameter of approximately 70 nm. The structural proteins encoded by the Alphavirus genome include the capsid protein C and several envelope glycoproteins (E1, E2, and E3), which are crucial for viral ability to infect host cells and evade immune response. The interaction between these envelope glycoproteins and host cell receptors is vital for viral entry, making these proteins key targets for therapeutic interventions and vaccine development. In humans, Alphavirus infections can lead to severe conditions such as arthritis, encephalitis, rashes, and fever, underscoring the importance of studying Alphavirus for public health. Alphaviruses are valuable in research due to their capacity to be engineered into replicon vectors, which can effectively stimulate both humoral and T-cell immune responses, potentially aiding in the development of vaccines against various pathogens, including viral, bacterial, protozoan, and tumor antigens.
