SEE ALSO...

αB-crystallin Antibody (F-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects αB-crystallin of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). αB-crystallin (F-10) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. αB-crystallin functions as a molecular chaperone, maintaining protein homeostasis under stress conditions by preventing denatured protein aggregation. This function proves particularly important in high-stress tissues like the lens of the eye, heart, and skeletal muscle, where αB-crystallin shows abundant expression. αB-crystallin′s ability to form large soluble aggregates enables sequestering of misfolded proteins, protecting cells from protein aggregation damage common in neurodegenerative diseases. Elevated αB-crystallin levels have been linked to several neurological disorders, while mutations in αB-crystallin can lead to conditions like Desmin-related myopathy. αB-crystallin′s structural integrity, comprising multiple homologous motifs and terminal extensions, remains essential for chaperone activity, making αB-crystallin a key focus in cellular stress response and disease mechanism research.

I am using αB-crystallin (F-10): sc-137129 monoclonal antibody to stain paraffin embedded tissue. Do you recommend antigen retrieval when using this antibody?

Asked by: Trav11
We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
