α Tubulin Antibody (YL1/2) is a rat monoclonal IgG2a antibody raised against full-length purified α Tubulin derived from Saccharomyces cerevisiae (yeast). α Tubulin (YL1/2) monoclonal antibody detects α Tubulin from various species, including mouse, rat, human, and yeast, through a range of applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). α Tubulin is a core component of the microtubule network, a crucial element of the cytoskeleton involved in maintaining cell shape, intracellular transport, and proper segregation of chromosomes during mitosis. Microtubules, composed of α and β Tubulin heterodimers, assemble into dynamic structures that provide mechanical support to cells and facilitate numerous cellular processes, including cell division and motility. Anti-α Tubulin antibody (YL1/2) also recognizes the tyrosinated form of α Tubulin, a post-translational modification that plays an important role in regulating microtubule stability and assembly of new microtubules. Tyrosination and detyrosination cycles are critical for controlling microtubule dynamics, influencing cellular functions such as signaling and motility. Understanding the localization and regulation of α Tubulin within cells is vital for investigating cellular organization, microtubule function, and regulation of cell cycle processes. Available in both non-conjugated and conjugated forms (including horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and various Alexa Fluor® conjugates), α Tubulin (YL1/2) antibody provides versatile tools for a broad range of experimental techniques.

I have a question concering α Tubulin Antibody (YL1/2): sc-53029. I would like to know whether it reacts with α Tubulin in Drosophila melanogaster in case of immunostaining and gives positive result?

Asked by: Amid
Thank you for your question. We do not have any information on whether this works on Drosophila melanogaster samples (we do know it works on mouse, rat, human, yeast and dog, so it is possible it works fine). Unfortunately we do not have a sample of this antibody, but we do offer a sample of another alpha tubulin antibody, sc-8035. If you would like to try a sample of that, please contact our European Technical Service team, they would be happy to help you! You can reach them by phone at Toll Free: +49 6221 4503 0, by email at: europe@scbt.com or by live chat directly on our website, www.scbt.com
