    SEE ALSO...

α-lactalbumin Antibody (A-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects α-lactalbumin in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). α-lactalbumin is a crucial component of lactose synthetase, secreted by mammary epithelial cells, and plays a significant role in calcium signaling and apoptosis induction, showcasing broad yet selective cytotoxic activity. The multimeric form of α-lactalbumin has demonstrated the ability to selectively kill transformed, embryonic, and lymphoid cells while sparing mature epithelial cells, indicating potential in enhancing mucosal immunity by providing antimicrobial properties and regulating lymphocyte and epithelial function. This regulatory aspect suggests that milk may contribute to immune surveillance in the body. Human α-lactalbumin consists of 123 amino acid residues, and analysis of 5′ flanking sequences reveals a highly conserved region that may play a regulatory role in hormonal control and tissue-specific expression of milk protein genes within the mammary gland. α-lactalbumin (A-2) monoclonal antibody serves as an invaluable tool for researchers investigating the origins of metastatic breast tumors and broader implications of milk proteins in immune function.

How much sample do you recommend loading on the gel for Western blot detection using α-lactalbumin (A-2): sc-393582?

    Asked by: jerojero
We recommend loading 40–60 µg whole cell lysate, 10–20 µg nuclear extract, 5-10 µg transfected lysate, or 10–20 ng purified protein per lane.
