SEE ALSO...

α-actinin Antibody (H-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects α-actinin protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). α-actinin Antibody (H-2) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. α-actinin plays a crucial role in the cytoskeleton by functioning as a bundling protein that cross-links filamentous actin (F-actin), thereby anchoring actin filaments to various intracellular structures. This structural integrity is vital for maintaining cell shape, enabling cellular movement, and facilitating muscle contraction. Notably, defects in the gene encoding α-actinin-4 can lead to focal segmental glomerulosclerosis 1 (FSGS1), a serious renal condition characterized by progressive kidney dysfunction and potential renal failure. The spectrin gene family, which includes α-actinins, is essential for the proper organization of the cytoskeleton, and understanding these proteins′ interactions and functions is critical for elucidating their roles in health and disease.

Does this antibody detect all 4 isoforms of alpha-actinin?

Asked by: MsMoonlight
Thank you for your inquiry. This antibody has a C-terminal epitope (within amino acids 593-892 ), so all isoforms present in the c-terminal would be possible to be picked up. Unfortunately the antibody has not been epitope mapped, so the exact epitope is not known.

Can I freeze sc-17829 antibody for long time storage?

Asked by: Carlaat
Thank you for your question. No, freezing the antibody will negatively impact its viability. Our antibodies are contained in buffer with PBS, gelatin and sodium azide. When frozen, they precipitate out of the solution and may denature. The antibodies are best stored at 4 °C and if handled properly will retain their reactivity for several years.

From the description of applications I guess this antibody should work for IP, but I can't find any review comment on the result of IP. Do you have any test result picture or publication using this antibody for IP? Thanks!

Asked by: Yali
Thank you for your question. This antibody is currently recommended and warrantied for IP, however we are still gathering data to show on our website. Check back for updates! There is also at least one product citation using this antibody successfully for IP/WB. Please refer to PMID: 16966331 to see their data with this antibody.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great resultsI got a sample of a-actinin antibody to use as a loading control, and it has been very successful. I started with the recommended dilution and have had to dilute it much more to avoid oversaturating our ECL detection reagent. We will purchase the full size soon.
