ALKBH3 Antibody (B-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects ALKBH3 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). ALKBH3 (B-7) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. ALKBH3, also known as ABH3, PCA1 (prostate cancer antigen 1), DEPC1, or DEPC-1, is a 286 amino acid member of the AlkB family of proteins, functioning primarily as a dioxygenase that preferentially targets RNA and single-stranded DNA substrates. ALKBH3 plays a crucial role in the repair of alkylated DNA and RNA by catalyzing the oxidative demethylation of 1-methyladenine and 3-methylcytosine lesions, which is vital for maintaining genomic integrity and preventing mutations that could lead to diseases such as cancer. ALKBH3 is expressed in a wide variety of tissues and is localized in both the cytoplasm and nucleus, where ALKBH3 associates with iron and 2-oxoglutarate, linking substrate oxidation to the conversion of 2-oxoglutarate into succinate and carbon dioxide. ALKBH3 enzymatic activity is further stimulated by ascorbate, highlighting ALKBH3′s importance in cellular repair mechanisms. Additionally, two isoforms of ALKBH3 exist due to alternative splicing of the gene, which may contribute to functional diversity in different cellular contexts.
