ALKB Antibody (F-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects ALKB protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). ALKB (F-4) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. ALKB protein plays a crucial role in cellular defense by repairing DNA and RNA damage caused by environmental methylating agents, specifically by reversing harmful alkylation lesions such as 1-methyladenine and 3-methylcytosine through oxidative demethylation. This process is vital for maintaining genomic integrity, as deficiencies in DNA and RNA repair mechanisms are linked to serious health issues, including cancer, neurological disorders, and developmental defects. Furthermore, ALKB is implicated in the cellular response to anti-cancer therapies, as ALKB helps tumors resist damage to their DNA, thereby contributing to treatment challenges. ALKB operates using ferrous iron and alpha-ketoglutarate as cofactors, with 2-oxoglutarate serving as a co-substrate and molecular oxygen as the oxidizing agent, highlighting complex biochemical interactions. Additionally, Escherichia coli ALKB protein is part of the superfamily of 2-oxoglutarate- and iron(II)-dependent oxygenases, underscoring evolutionary significance and functional diversity across different organisms.
