ALDH8A1 Antibody (E-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects ALDH8A1 of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). ALDH8A1 (E-2) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. ALDH8A1, also known as aldehyde dehydrogenase 8 family, member A1 or ALDH12, is a 487 amino acid enzyme primarily located in the cytoplasm, where ALDH8A1 plays a crucial role in the detoxification of aldehydes, particularly converting 9-cis-retinal into 9-cis-retinoic acid. This conversion is significant as 9-cis-retinoic acid activates retinoid X receptors, which are essential nuclear receptors involved in regulating various signaling pathways that influence cellular growth, differentiation, and metabolism. ALDH8A1 expression is notably high in the kidney and liver, highlighting ALDH8A1′s importance in metabolic processes and detoxification mechanisms.
