SEE ALSO...

AKR7A Antibody (F-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects AKR7A protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-AKR7A antibody (F-8) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The aldo-keto reductase 7 (AKR7) family, which includes AKR7A2, AKR7A3, and AKR7A4 in humans, as well as AKR7A5 in mice and AKR7A2 in rats, plays a crucial role in metabolizing Aflatoxin B1 and other dicarbonyl-containing compounds. AKR7A proteins are essential for metabolizing compounds with ketone groups on adjacent carbon atoms across various tissues, particularly in the liver, where these proteins help detoxify harmful substances. The human AKR7A2 gene is located on chromosome 1p36.13, a region often deleted in sporadic colorectal cancer, highlighting AKR7A2′s potential role as a tumor suppressor. AKR7A2′s functional importance lies in constitutive expression in the human liver, which aids in eliminating Aflatoxin, an environmental carcinogen, thereby serving as an endogenous chemopreventive agent. AKR7A3 functions as a homodimer and is expressed in various tissues, including the kidney, colon, pancreas, endometrium, and adenocarcinoma, further underscoring AKR7A proteins′ significance in both normal physiology and disease states.
