SEE ALSO...

AKR1D1 Antibody (C-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects AKR1D1 of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). AKR1D1 (C-2) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. AKR1D1, also known as aldo-keto reductase family 1 member D1, Δ(4)-3-oxosteroid 5-β-reductase, or steroid 5-β-reductase, plays a crucial role in the metabolism of bile acid intermediates and steroid hormones by catalyzing the reduction of compounds with a Δ(4)-3-one structure to their 5-β reduced metabolites. This enzymatic activity is vital for maintaining hormonal balance and proper bile acid metabolism, which are essential for digestion and the regulation of various physiological processes. AKR1D1 is predominantly expressed in the liver, colon, and testis, and AKR1D1 substrates include testosterone, androstenedione, progesterone, and bile acid intermediates such as 7-α-hydroxy-4-cholesten-3-one. A deficiency in AKR1D1 can lead to significant hepatic dysfunction, highlighting the importance of this protein in metabolic pathways.

What application is the blocking peptide sc-365932 P appropriate for?

Asked by: DefinitelyNotMatt
Thank you for your question. The blocking peptide is intended for use as a negative control, by pre-adsorbing the mouse monoclonal antibody against the antigen. For full protocol details, please contact our Technical Services Department or view our online protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/peptide-neutralization
