AI-BP Antibody (D-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects AI-BP of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). AI-BP (D-3) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. AI-BP, also known as Apolipoprotein A-I-binding protein, plays a crucial role in lipid metabolism by binding to Apolipoprotein A-I and Apolipoprotein A-II, which are essential for the formation and function of high-density lipoprotein (HDL). This interaction is vital for the process of cholesterol efflux, where excess cholesterol is transported from peripheral tissues to the liver for excretion, thereby maintaining lipid homeostasis and preventing atherosclerosis. AI-BP is a 288 amino acid secreted protein primarily located in the kidney, where AI-BP is normally reabsorbed within the renal tubules; however, individuals with impaired renal function exhibit increased excretion of AI-BP, highlighting AI-BP′s potential as a biomarker for kidney health. Additionally, AI-BP belongs to the YjeF N-terminal domain protein family, which is implicated in reproductive processes such as oogenesis and spermatogenesis, and AI-BP exists in two isoforms due to alternative splicing, further underscoring AI-BP′s biological significance.
