    SEE ALSO...

AHSP Antibody (G-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects α-hemoglobin stabilizing protein (AHSP) in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). AHSP Antibody (G-5) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. AHSP plays a crucial role in erythroid cell development by acting as a chaperone that prevents the aggregation of free α-hemoglobin, which is vital for maintaining hemoglobin stability and function. By forming a heterodimer with free α-hemoglobin, AHSP ensures that excess α-hemoglobin does not precipitate, thereby protecting erythroid cells from potential damage caused by hemoglobin misfolding. AHSP is primarily localized in the cytoplasm and is expressed in blood and bone marrow, where AHSP is essential for normal erythropoiesis. Notably, AHSP expression is downregulated in transmissible spongiform encephalopathies, indicating AHSP′s potential involvement in pathological conditions associated with α-hemoglobin excess, such as β-thalassemia, a hereditary disorder characterized by reduced β-globin chain synthesis.
