AGRP Antibody (H-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects AGRP protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). AGRP (H-5) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. AGRP, or agouti-related protein, plays a crucial role in energy homeostasis and appetite regulation by acting as a potent antagonist of melanocortin receptors MC3R and MC4R, which are involved in central regulation of body weight. This antagonistic action is vital for maintaining energy balance, as AGRP influences feeding behavior and energy expenditure. AGRP expression occurs primarily in adrenal gland, subthalamic nucleus, and hypothalamus, with lower levels found in testis, lung, and kidney, highlighting AGRP′s importance in neuroendocrine signaling pathways. AGRP gene is located on human chromosome 16q22, and AGRP expression remains tightly regulated, making AGRP a significant target for research into obesity and metabolic disorders.
