AGRP Antibody (MM0085-32B12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2 antibody that detects AGRP of human origin by western blotting (WB) and immunoprecipitation (IP). AGRP monoclonal antibody (MM0085-32B12) is available in a non-conjugated form, allowing for versatile applications in research. The agouti-related protein (AGRP) plays a crucial role in the regulation of energy homeostasis and body weight by acting as a potent antagonist of the melanocortin receptors MC3R and MC4R, which are involved in appetite control and energy expenditure. This regulation is particularly important as it links the central nervous system′s signaling pathways to peripheral metabolic processes, influencing feeding behavior and energy balance. AGRP is primarily expressed in the adrenal gland, subthalamic nucleus, and hypothalamus, with lower expression levels found in the testis, lung, and kidney. The gene encoding AGRP is located on human chromosome 16q22, and its expression is tightly regulated, reflecting the body′s need to maintain energy homeostasis. Understanding the function of AGRP and its interactions with melanocortin receptors is vital for developing therapeutic strategies for obesity and metabolic disorders.
