Datasheets
  • aggrecan/brevican Antibody (D-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgM κ, cited in 15 publications, provided at 200 µg/ml
  • specific for an epitope mapping between amino acids 2261-2280 near the C-terminus of aggrecan/brevican of human origin
  • recommended for detection of aggrecan and brevican of mouse, rat and human origin by WB, IP, IF and ELISA; also reactive with additional species, including canine
  • See aggrecan (4F4): sc-33695 for aggrecan/brevican antibody conjugates, including AC, HRP, FITC, PE, Alexa Fluor® 488, 594, 647, 680 and 790.
  • m-IgGκ BP-HRP is the preferred secondary detection reagent for aggrecan/brevican Antibody (D-4) for WB applications. This reagent is now offered in a bundle with aggrecan/brevican Antibody (D-4) (see ordering information below). For additional m-IgGκ BP conjugates see our complete list of Mouse IgG Binding Proteins.

Aggrecan/brevican Antibody (D-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgM kappa antibody that detects aggrecan/brevican from mouse, rat, and human samples through western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-aggrecan/brevican antibody (D-4) is available in non-conjugated form. Aggrecan, a large chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan, is the predominant proteoglycan found in cartilage and plays a crucial role in maintaining the structural integrity and resilience of cartilage tissue. Aggrecan belongs to the chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan family, which also includes versican, neurocan, and brevican. Aggrecan′s complex multidomain structure allows formation of aggregates with hyaluronan and link proteins, which are embedded within a collagen network, contributing to the compressive stiffness and resilience of hyaline cartilage. Degradation of aggrecan is often associated with various forms of inflammatory arthritis, leading to a loss of cartilage integrity. Brevican is primarily expressed in the brain and undergoes proteolytic cleavage in the adult brain, resulting in a full-length form and two fragments, which are essential for neural development and plasticity. Anti-aggrecan/brevican antibody (D-4) effectively detects these proteins, making this antibody a valuable tool for research into cartilage biology and neurological studies.

What application is the blocking peptide sc-166951 P appropriate for?

Asked by: jenniferc
Thank you for your question. The blocking peptide is intended for use as a negative control, by pre-adsorbing the mouse monoclonal antibody against the antigen. For full protocol details, please contact our Technical Services Department or view our online protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/peptide-neutralization
