ADPGK Antibody (AA40) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects ADPGK protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-ADPGK antibody (AA40) is available as a non-conjugated format. ADPGK protein, also known as ADP-dependent glucokinase or RbBP-35, plays a crucial role in carbohydrate metabolism by catalyzing the phosphorylation of D-glucose to D-glucose 6-phosphate using ADP as a phosphate donor. This enzymatic reaction is vital for glycolysis, a key metabolic pathway that provides energy to cells. While GDP and CDP can substitute for ADP, ADPGK efficiency significantly diminishes with these alternatives, highlighting the specificity and importance of ADP in this process. ADPGK is expressed in various tissues, including lymphatic, endocrine, muscular, and epithelial cells, indicating widespread physiological relevance. Structurally, ADPGK contains one ADP-dependent kinase domain and requires a magnesium ion as a cofactor for activity, which is essential for maintaining enzyme functionality.
