Actin Antibody (H-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody raised against amino acids 180-375 of human Actin, and is reactive with mouse, rat, and human proteins. Actin is a highly conserved protein ubiquitously expressed in eukaryotic cells and predominantly localized in the cytoplasm, where Actin forms the backbone of the cytoskeleton. This localization is critical for maintaining cell shape and providing structural support, as well as enabling intracellular transport, cytokinesis, and cell signaling. In muscle cells, Actin is found in the sarcomere, where Actin interacts with myosin to drive contraction, while in other cell types, Actin polymerizes into microfilaments that form stress fibers, lamellipodia, and filopodia, structures essential for cell adhesion and motility. The precise subcellular distribution of Actin is dynamically regulated by signaling molecules such as small GTPases like Rho, Rac, and Cdc42, which influence cytoskeletal rearrangements during processes like migration and division. Actin′s ability to transition between monomeric (G-actin) and filamentous (F-actin) states allows Actin to adapt to changing cellular needs, with localization and polymerization tightly controlled by interactions with actin-binding proteins. Anti-Actin antibody (H-6) provides researchers with a robust tool to study the cellular roles of Actin, particularly spatial organization and functional dynamics in diverse cellular contexts.
