    SEE ALSO...

ACOT8 Antibody (C-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects the ACOT8 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). ACOT8 monoclonal antibody (C-3) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. ACOT8, also known as Acyl-CoA thioesterase 8 or TEII p35, plays a crucial role in lipid metabolism by hydrolyzing acyl-CoA thioesters, which are important intermediates in fatty acid metabolism. This enzymatic activity is vital for maintaining cellular lipid homeostasis and regulating energy production, particularly in response to metabolic stress. Furthermore, ACOT8 has been shown to interact with the HIV protein Nef, a key factor in HIV pathogenesis that enhances viral replication and infectivity. The interaction between ACOT8 and Nef is associated with the downregulation of CD4, a critical receptor for HIV entry into host cells, indicating that ACOT8 may influence HIV pathogenesis through its role in modulating CD4 levels in infected cells. Notably, ACOT8 exhibits 42% identity to thioesterase II from Escherichia coli, yet does not share significant homology with previously cloned animal thioesterases, highlighting its unique evolutionary path and potential as a therapeutic target in HIV research.
