ACOT7 Antibody (C-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects ACOT7 of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-ACOT7 antibody (C-2) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. ACOT7, also known as brain acyl-CoA hydrolase (BACH), is a crucial enzyme that plays a significant role in lipid metabolism by catalyzing the hydrolysis of acyl-CoA to produce coenzyme A and free fatty acids. This enzymatic activity maintains the balance of fatty acids and acyl-CoAs within cells, essential for various cellular processes, including energy production and membrane synthesis. ACOT7 exists in six alternatively spliced isoforms that localize to either the cytoplasm or mitochondria, functioning as a homodimer with two acyl coenzyme A hydrolase domains. ACOT7 functions are particularly important for brain physiology, and decreased ACOT7 expression has been linked to mesial temporal lobe epilepsy, a condition characterized by recurrent seizures. Using ACOT7 (C-2) monoclonal antibody in research can provide insights into the regulatory mechanisms of fatty acid metabolism and their implications in neurological disorders.

Can ACOT7 (C-2): sc-376808 monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: Dr Ninau Qelp
Thank you for your question. Yes, ACOT7 (C-2): sc-376808 has been validated for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
