    SEE ALSO...

Acid Ceramidase Antibody (F-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgM kappa antibody that detects Acid Ceramidase β of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Acid Ceramidase (F-9) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Acid ceramidase plays a crucial role in sphingolipid metabolism by catalyzing ceramide degradation, a process vital for maintaining cellular homeostasis. Acid ceramidase deficiency leads to ceramide accumulation, a hallmark of Farber disease, causing severe early-onset joint and neurological issues in affected individuals. Bioinformatic analyses have identified acid ceramidase as one of the top five genes associated with melanoma, highlighting acid ceramidase′s potential role in cancer biology. Acid ceramidase not only performs ceramide hydrolysis but also synthesizes ceramide under certain conditions, utilizing [14C]lauric acid and sphingosine as substrates. Environmental pH significantly influences the reaction pathway, with a pH optimum of 4.5 favoring hydrolysis and a pH of 5.5 promoting synthesis, underscoring acid ceramidase′s complex regulatory mechanisms and central role in lipid metabolism.
