AChRα9 Antibody (8E4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects AChRα9 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-AChRα9 antibody (8E4) is available as a non-conjugated isotype antibody. AChRα9 (8E4) antibody recognizes a protein that plays a crucial role in the auditory system, particularly in cochlear hair cells, where AChRα9 is essential for mediating efferent synaptic transmission between cholinergic olivocochlear fibers and outer hair cells (OHCs). AChRα9 represents the only nicotinic acetylcholine receptor found in cochlear hair cells, with expression localized primarily in the basal regions of adult rat cochlear OHCs and in the apical regions of inner hair cells (IHCs). AChRα9 channel facilitates calcium ion influx, which is vital for the modulation of auditory signals and the protection of hair cells from damage. Understanding specific interactions and functions of AChRα9 provides insights into hearing mechanisms and potential therapeutic targets for auditory disorders.
