AChRα1 Antibody (164) is a rat monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects AChRα1 in mouse, rat, and Torpedo by western blotting (WB) and immunofluorescence (IF). AChRα1, also known as ACHRD, CHRNA, CMS2A, FCCMS, SCCMS, or CHRNA1, is a crucial component of the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor family, which plays a vital role in neurotransmission. This multi-pass membrane protein consists of 482 amino acids and exists in two alternatively spliced isoforms, with isoform 1 being specifically expressed in skeletal muscle and isoform 2 being widely distributed across various tissues, including the brain, heart, kidney, liver, lung, and thymus. AChRα1 at the postsynaptic membrane of the neuromuscular junction is essential for muscle contraction, as AChRα1 binds acetylcholine and facilitates the influx of ions through its transmembrane pore, thereby initiating a rapid response to neurotransmitters. The functional significance of AChRα1 is underscored by AChRα1′s interaction with other proteins, such as the scaffolding protein PSD-95, which is known to play a role in the clustering and stabilization of receptors at synapses, ultimately influencing synaptic plasticity and signaling pathways. Anti-AChRα1 antibody (164) is an invaluable tool for researchers studying the dynamics of neurotransmission and the molecular mechanisms underlying neuromuscular junction function.
