AChRα1 Antibody (153) is a rat monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects AChR alpha 1 protein of mouse, rat, human, bovine, and Torpedo origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. AChR alpha 1 (153) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. AChR alpha 1 protein, also known as CHRNA1, plays a crucial role in neuromuscular transmission by forming part of the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor, which is essential for muscle contraction and communication between nerve and muscle cells. AChR alpha 1 protein is located at the postsynaptic membrane of the neuromuscular junction, where binding acetylcholine leads to the opening of an ion channel that allows sodium ion influx, ultimately triggering muscle contraction. Proper functioning of AChR alpha 1 is vital for muscle movement and coordination, and any dysfunction can lead to neuromuscular disorders such as myasthenia gravis. AChR alpha 1, also referred to as ACHRD, CMS2A, FCCMS, SCCMS, or CHRNA1, consists of 482 amino acids and exists in two alternatively spliced isoforms, with isoform 1 being specific to skeletal muscle and isoform 2 being widely expressed in various tissues, including the brain, heart, kidney, liver, lung, and thymus.
