Abi-1 Antibody (C-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Abi-1 of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Abi-1 (C-1) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Abi-1 plays a crucial role in cellular signaling pathways, particularly in the context of the Abelson oncogene, which was first identified as a viral transforming component of the Abelson murine leukemia virus. The Abelson gene (ABL1) encodes a tyrosine kinase that is essential for mitogenic signaling following growth factor receptor activation. Abi-1, along with its homolog Abi-2, contains SH3 domains that interact with proline-rich motifs of the Abl protein, thereby enhancing kinase activity. Notably, Abi-1 is expressed in various tissues, with the highest levels found in the bone marrow, spleen, brain, and testis, and plays a role in negatively regulating cell growth and transformation, including cellular transformation associated with v-Abl. Furthermore, the ABI1 gene has been implicated in acute myeloid leukemia through translocation and fusion with the mixed lineage leukemia (MLL) gene. Abi proteins are also recognized for their involvement in cell motility, as these proteins regulate actin polymerization in structures such as lamellipodia and filopodia, which are critical for cell movement and tissue remodeling.
