ABHD5 Antibody (E-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects ABHD5 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). ABHD5 Antibody (E-1) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. ABHD5, also known as CGI-58, NCIE2, or CDS, is a 349 amino acid protein characterized by an alpha/beta-hydrolase domain that plays a crucial role in lipid metabolism. ABHD5 is primarily localized to the surface of lipid droplets, where ABHD5 interacts with Perilipin, facilitating lipolysis—the breakdown of stored fats into free fatty acids, which are essential for energy production and cellular function. ABHD5′s importance in lipid metabolism is underscored by its association with Chanarin-Dorfman syndrome (CDS), a genetic disorder resulting from defects in the ABHD5 gene, leading to impaired long-chain fatty acid oxidation and a range of symptoms including congenital generalized ichthyosis, vacuolated leukocytes, hepatomegaly, myopathy, cataracts, neurosensory hearing loss, and developmental delay. anti-ABHD5 antibody (E-1) effectively detects this critical protein, making ABHD5 (E-1) monoclonal antibody an invaluable tool for researchers studying lipid metabolism and related disorders.
