SEE ALSO...

ABCD3 Antibody (F-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects ABCD3 of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). ABCD3 Antibody (F-1) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. ABCD3 plays a crucial role in the transport of very long-chain fatty acids into peroxisomes, where they undergo β-oxidation, a vital metabolic process for lipid metabolism and cellular energy production. Disruptions in this transport mechanism can lead to the accumulation of toxic fatty acids, contributing to various peroxisomal disorders, including X-linked adrenoleukodystrophy (X-ALD). ABCD3 is predominantly located in the peroxisomal membrane, where ABCD3 functions alongside other ATP-binding cassette transporters, such as ABCD1 and ABCD2, to maintain cellular lipid homeostasis. The presence of ABCD3 in irregularly shaped vesicles suggests ABCD3′s involvement in the formation and maintenance of functional peroxisomes, which are essential for cellular health. Understanding ABCD3 function and localization is critical for elucidating the pathophysiology of peroxisomal disorders and developing targeted therapeutic strategies.
