SEE ALSO...

A-FABP Antibody (B-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects A-FABP protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). A-FABP (B-4) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. A-FABP protein, also known as adipocyte fatty acid-binding protein, plays a crucial role in lipid metabolism by facilitating the uptake, transport, and targeting of fatty acids within adipose tissue. A-FABP is predominantly located in adipocytes, where A-FABP accounts for approximately 1% of the total cytosolic protein, highlighting A-FABP′s significance in energy homeostasis and metabolic regulation. The human A-FABP gene, organized into four exons, is mapped to chromosome 8q21 and encodes a 132-amino acid protein that is essential for maintaining the balance between lipid and carbohydrate metabolism. By mediating both passive and protein-mediated transport of fatty acids, A-FABP influences various physiological processes, including insulin sensitivity and inflammation, making A-FABP a vital target for research in metabolic disorders and obesity.

Hello, can I use the HRP-conjugated form of sc-271529 to perform not only WB but IP experiments as well? Thank you!

Asked by: ck1916
Thank you for your question. The HRP-conjugate of this antibody is only recommended for detection of A-FABP in western blots, IHC(P), and ELISA. For IP experiments we recommend using the unconjugated version of the antibody, or ideally the agarose conjugate. Please feel free to reach out to our technical service directly if you have additional questions.

What secondary is best to use with A-FABP (B-4): sc-271529?

Asked by: jenni
Thank you for your question. While most anti-mouse IgG secondary antibodies are appropriate for use with A-FABP (B-4):sc-271529, we recommend using one our exclusive Mouse IgG Binding Proteins as a secondary detection reagent. A complete list of available binding proteins is available on our website here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/browse/support-products-mouse-igg-binding-proteins/_/N-ecrety
