4E-BP1 Antibody (P-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects the 4E-BP1 protein of mouse, rat, human, and porcine origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). 4E-BP1 monoclonal antibody (P-1) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The 4E-BP1 protein plays a crucial role in the regulation of protein synthesis by acting as a translational repressor; 4E-BP1 binds to the eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4E (eIF-4E), preventing the formation of the eIF-4F complex necessary for the initiation of translation. This regulatory mechanism is vital for cellular responses to growth signals and stress, as phosphorylation of 4E-BP1 by various kinases, such as S6 kinase p70, leads to dissociation from eIF-4E, thereby promoting the translation of mRNAs that are critical for cell growth and proliferation. Additionally, 4E-BP1 is known to interact with 4E-BP2, which also modulates eIF-4E activity, highlighting the importance of these proteins in the intricate control of gene expression and cellular function.
