3β-HSD Antibody (A-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG3 kappa light chain antibody that detects 3β-HSD in mouse, rat, and human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). 3β-HSD (A-1) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and multiple conjugated forms, such as agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and various Alexa Fluor® conjugates. 3 beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase (3β-HSD), also known as HSD3B1 or HSDB3, is a bifunctional enzyme essential for synthesizing all classes of hormonal steroids, making 3β-HSD critical for numerous physiological processes, including metabolism regulation, immune response, and reproductive functions. 3β-HSD is localized to the endoplasmic reticulum membrane and predominantly expressed in tissues such as skin and placenta. 3β-HSD exists in two isoforms, type I (3β-HSD) and type II (3β-HSD2), which are encoded by different genes and have distinct roles in various tissues. Deficiencies in the gene encoding 3β-HSD can lead to serious health issues, including classic salt-wasting conditions, genital ambiguity, hypogonadism, insulin-resistant polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and increased prostate cancer risk. Congenital deficiency of 3β-HSD activity can result in critical steroid hormone depletion, which can be life-threatening in young children.
