MPP2 Activators

Membrane Protein, Palmitoylated 2 (MPP2), also known as P55, is a protein that in humans is encoded by the MPP2 gene. This protein belongs to the MAGUK (membrane-associated guanylate kinase) family, which is characterized by their role in tethering together proteins at the plasma membrane, contributing to the formation and regulation of specialized cellular junctions, such as tight junctions and synapses.

MPP2 is composed of several domains including two L27 domains, a PDZ domain, an SH3 domain, and a guanylate kinase-like (GUK) domain. These domains enable MPP2 to interact with various other proteins, thereby participating in complex protein-protein interaction networks.In terms of cellular localization, MPP2 is predominantly found at the postsynaptic density (PSD) in neurons, a specialized region involved in signal transduction and synaptic plasticity. MPP2 likely plays a role in the assembly and maintenance of synaptic structures, contributing to neuronal communication and connectivity.
