GADD 45α Antibody (C-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects GADD 45 alpha in mouse, rat, and human samples through various applications including western blotting, immunoprecipitation, immunofluorescence, flow cytometry (FCM), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. GADD 45α (C-4) antibody is offered in both non-conjugated and multiple conjugated forms, such as agarose, horseradish peroxidase, phycoerythrin, fluorescein isothiocyanate, and various Alexa Fluor® conjugates. GADD 45 alpha plays a crucial role in the cellular response to DNA damage, particularly in regulating cell cycle checkpoints. GADD 45 alpha interacts with cyclin-dependent kinases (Cdks) and proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA), which are essential for DNA replication and repair processes. GADD 45 alpha helps to inhibit Cdk activity by binding to these proteins, thereby preventing cell cycle progression into the S phase when DNA damage is present. This function allows cells to repair DNA before division, thus maintaining genomic stability and preventing the propagation of damaged DNA, which can lead to tumorigenesis. GADD 45 alpha stimulates DNA excision repair, further underscoring its importance in cellular defense mechanisms against genotoxic stress.

I got very nice and clean blot with this antibody but the band is ~40 kDa. And no signal at all at ~20 kDa. Any explanation?

Can GADD 45α (C-4): sc-6850 monoclonal antibody be used in IF or IHC with mouse tissue or cells? Will there be non-specific staining?

Asked by: AbPolly
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent, GADD 45α (C-4): sc-6850 is available in a variety of direct conjugations, such as HRP, PE, FITC and AlexaFluors.
