IL-17 Antibody (G-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody specific for an epitope mapping between amino acids 111-140 at the C-terminus of human interleukin-17 (IL-17). IL-17, also known as IL-17A or CTLA-8, is a pro-inflammatory cytokine produced primarily by activated T helper 17 (Th17) cells and plays a pivotal role in immune responses against pathogens. Structurally, IL-17 forms a homodimer consisting of two identical subunits linked by disulfide bonds, a configuration crucial for biological activity and interaction with IL-17 receptor (IL-17R) on target cells. This structural arrangement enables IL-17 to induce the expression of other cytokines and chemokines, amplifying inflammatory responses and contributing to host defense mechanisms. Dysregulation of IL-17 has been implicated in various autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, making IL-17 an important target for therapeutic research. Anti-IL-17 antibody (G-4) reacts with IL-17 from mouse, rat, and human origins and is validated for use in western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). By targeting a specific epitope at the C-terminus of IL-17, IL-17 (G-4) antibody facilitates detailed studies on IL-17′s structure-function relationships and role in disease pathogenesis, aiding in the development of strategies to modulate IL-17-mediated inflammatory processes.
