EDAR Antibody (G-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects EDAR protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-EDAR antibody (G-1) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The ectodermal dysplasia receptor (EDAR) plays a crucial role in ectodermal differentiation and is a member of the tumor necrosis factor receptor (TNFR) superfamily, which consists of type I transmembrane glycoproteins involved in essential cellular functions such as proliferation, differentiation, and programmed cell death. EDAR is encoded by the downless gene and is known to be mutated in ectodermal dysplasia syndromes, which lead to developmental issues in hair, teeth, and sweat glands. EDAR′s structure contains cysteine-rich repeats in its extracellular ligand-binding domain and an intracellular death domain, allowing interactions with various signaling pathways. These interactions can activate either pro-apoptotic pathways, such as caspase and Jun kinase, or promote cell survival through the NFkB pathway. EDAR interacts with ectodysplasin A (EDA), a type II membrane protein encoded by the Tabby gene, which serves as its ligand. The longest splice variant of EDA, EDA-A1, binds to EDAR, while EDA-A2, which has a two-amino-acid deletion, specifically interacts with the X-linked ectodysplasin-A2 receptor (XEDAR). Both EDAR and XEDAR share homology with TROY, further emphasizing the complexity and significance of these protein interactions in cellular signaling and development.
