CMBL Antibody (C-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects CMBL (Carboxymethylenebutenolidase homolog) in human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). CMBL is a 245 amino acid cytosolic protein and cysteine hydrolase that plays a crucial role in the cleavage of cyclic esters, functioning as a bioactivating enzyme for the prodrug olmesartan medoxomil, an angiotensin II type 1 receptor antagonist. CMBL is predominantly expressed in the liver, colon, kidney, and small intestine, highlighting CMBL′s importance in metabolic processes and drug activation. The structure of CMBL, as a member of the dienelactone hydrolase family, allows for specific recognition and hydrolysis of cyclic esters, which is essential for the degradation of certain compounds and activation of therapeutic agents. CMBL is encoded by a gene located on human chromosome 5p15.2, a region associated with various genetic disorders when deleted, such as Cri du chat syndrome. Anti-CMBL antibody (C-5) is inhibited by p-chloromercuribenzoate, making anti-CMBL antibody (C-5) a valuable tool for studying CMBL′s functional dynamics in both health and disease contexts.
