TMPRSS13 Activators

TMPRSS13 can elicit an increase in the protease's activity through various cellular mechanisms. Bromhexine enhances the lysosomal trafficking of proteins, which can lead to a more effective transport of TMPRSS13 to the cell surface, thus amplifying its functional activation. Similarly, glycerophosphoinositol's role as a phosphoinositide derivative can influence membrane dynamics and protein distribution, potentially leading to improved localization and activation of TMPRSS13 at the plasma membrane. Phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (PMA) activates protein kinase C, which may phosphorylate TMPRSS13 or its interacting proteins, facilitating TMPRSS13's maturation or its positioning within the cell to augment its activity.

Camostat mesylate and nafamostat, both known as protease inhibitors, may induce a compensatory increase in TMPRSS13 activity when the activities of closely related proteases are inhibited. Aprotinin and leupeptin, which also serve as inhibitors of various serine proteases, could trigger a cellular adjustment that increases the activity of TMPRSS13 to maintain proteolytic balance. Furthermore, ulinastatin and gabexate can modify protease-protease inhibitor interactions, possibly resulting in a net increase in TMPRSS13 activity. E-64, as a cysteine protease inhibitor, and pepstatin A, an inhibitor of aspartic proteases, can also contribute to such compensatory upregulation of TMPRSS13 activity. Lastly, sivelestat, which targets neutrophil elastase, may affect the protease network in a manner that promotes increased TMPRSS13 activity. These various chemicals, through their unique interactions with cellular processes, can collectively facilitate the activation of TMPRSS13.
