Rab 18 Inhibitors

Rab18 inhibitors belong to a class of compounds that can modulate the activity of the Rab18 protein. Rab18 is a member of the Rab family of small GTPases, which play vital roles in vesicle trafficking within cells. These proteins alternate between active (GTP-bound) and inactive (GDP-bound) states, regulating intracellular transport processes such as vesicle budding, transport, and fusion.

Direct inhibitors of Rab18 can function by interfering with the protein's ability to interact with its GTP/GDP substrates or by affecting its GTPase activity. These inhibitors might bind to the active site of Rab18, blocking GTP/GDP interactions and thus inhibiting the protein's function. Alternatively, they could bind to allosteric sites on the protein, altering its conformation and potentially reducing its GTPase activity.
