Gm98 Inhibitors

The chemical class known as Myrf Inhibitors comprises a diverse set of compounds that can indirectly influence the function or expression of myelin regulatory factor (Myrf). These chemicals are not specific inhibitors of Myrf but act on various cellular and molecular processes that can, in turn, affect Myrf's role in myelin sheath formation. For example, Triptolide and Actinomycin D can interfere with the transcription machinery, potentially reducing the expression levels of Myrf. Mithramycin A can bind to specific DNA sequences, possibly preventing the binding of transcription factors to the Myrf gene promoter, thus influencing its expression.

Furthermore, chemicals such as Sirolimus and Phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate target signaling pathways like mTOR and protein kinase C, respectively, which are known to regulate myelin protein translation and phosphorylation states of proteins involved in Myrf activity. Epigenetic modulators like 5-Azacytidine, Trichostatin A, BIX-01294, I-CBP112, and JQ1 can alter the methylation and acetylation patterns of DNA and histones around the Myrf gene, leading to changes in its expression. PF-06751979 targets BACE1, an enzyme involved in myelin sheath formation, and can therefore have an impact on the processes in which Myrf is involved.
