Gα 11 Activators

Common Gα 11 Activators include, but are not limited to Angiotensin II, Human CAS 4474-91-3, D-erythro-Sphingosine-1-phosphate CAS 26993-30-6, Lysophosphatidic Acid CAS 325465-93-8, Neurotensin and Aluminum Fluoride CAS 7784-18-1.

Gα11 activators are molecules that have the capacity to stimulate the activity of the G protein subunit alpha-11 (Gα11). Gα11 is a crucial component of the G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) signaling pathway, a fundamental cellular signaling mechanism. GPCRs are membrane-bound proteins responsible for transmitting signals from the extracellular environment to the cell's interior. When a GPCR is activated by its ligand, which could be a hormone, neurotransmitter, or even light in the case of certain visual receptors, it initiates a series of intracellular events. This binding event induces a conformational change in the GPCR, allowing it to activate Gα11 by catalyzing the exchange of GDP (guanosine diphosphate) for GTP (guanosine triphosphate) on the Gα11 subunit. This switch from GDP to GTP triggers the dissociation of Gα11 from the GPCR and enables it to activate downstream effector molecules. These effectors include enzymes like phospholipase C (PLC) and ion channels, which mediate various cellular responses, such as intracellular calcium release and changes in membrane potential. Therefore, Gα11 activators play a pivotal role in modulating cellular processes by influencing GPCR-mediated signaling pathways.

Activation of Gα11 begins when a GPCR binds to its respective ligand, which could be a hormone, neurotransmitter, or even light in the case of certain visual receptors.
